When asked the question, “what is your all time favorite song?”, you might have a little trouble answering. Unless you have spent a lot of time specifically trying to discover an answer to this question, you are probably like the majority who have a hard time choosing one single song.

The importance of a song has many different factors. One factor is the sound. To discover your favorite song, you first have to figure out what type of sound or mood you like the most. This could be an upbeat sound, a sad and slow sound, a romantic sound, an angry sound, etc.

Along with the sound, find what feeling you like from a song. Sometimes the sound doesn’t necessarily correlate with the feeling. For example, I can listen to a sad song with sad lyrics, but it will make me feel extremely happy. Find which feeling you enjoy the most when listening to a song.

After completing this stage, you have to decide if the quality of lyrics has any importance to your songs. Some may say that lyrics don’t really matter and that the sound and feelings you get from the song are more important. But, others like me will find that many of my favorite songs always have fantastic and in depth lyrics.

One factor that also might play a part in choosing a favorite song is the artist. You might find two songs that are very similar from two different artists but you tend to lean towards the one with the artist you are more fond of. Another factor that could also play a part is memories attached to a certain song. Sometimes, memories are the only thing keeping songs in our lives.

When asked that seemingly so simple question, remember that it is in fact not so easy to answer. If you are like me and take deep appreciation for the music you listen to, finding the perfect song takes a lot of dissecting.
